The Burren and other sites along the way:
We drove from Cashel to Galway and took the scenic route. We drove through
The Burren. It translates to "The rock".

Here are some more pictures of the drive from Cashel to Galway. Most of the trip was through
County Clare

We tried to stop at the Cliffs of Moher, but the weather wasn't holding up for it to be worthwhile. The cloud cover was beginning to fall so that none of the cliffs would have been visible. We then stopped at Blackhead point which is a lookout point towards the Atlantic. The narrow shore extended from the rolling hills above and served as a home to sheep. The sheep were right on the coast feeding on grass by the water.

Arrival to Galway
After a long but scenic drive, we arrived in Galway. It was after 8:30 when we checked into the hotel and received our apartment keys. We stayed in a modern apartment located within walking distance of
Eyre Square and Kennedy Park. Kennedy visited Galway in 1963 due to his Irish heritage.

That night, we ate at
McDonagh's on Quay Street (pronounced "key") It was a long day, but the food was amazing.
The next morning we tried to catch a ferry to the Aran Islands, but were given the summer schedule rather than the winter. We decided to stop and get a pint and take some pictures by the water instead.
We returned to Galway and went out for dinner at
The Dáil Bar and drinks at
The Front Door and The
Quays Bar.
A local had recommended the Quays. Because most of the bar is hidden from view, we had looked into the window earlier and were not impressed. Behind the main room in view from the window is a huge sunken stage and dance floor. There was decent cover band (they played some arcade fire!) and we got seats right next to the stage.
On the walk home, Colin saved a drunk man who was napping on the street (using the curb as a pillow, naturally), and I think we tried to get dominoes. It was wonderful.
